Foods that contains high calories.



What are calories?

Calories are the unit of energy contained in a food we eat or drink. It is important to know how many calories is contained in the daily food or drink you take if you want to loose weight or gain weight.

Here, am going to give at least 10 foods that contains high calories. If you want to loose weight, reduce the intake of this foods but if the reverse is the case, that is, you cant t put on more weight,

then you should consume more of this food. It is also important to note that the amount of calories a person needs depends on their age, gender, muscle mass and activity level.


1. Fats & Oils:

Fats and oils such as vegetable oil, lard and fish oil are high in calories and contains about 902 calories per 100g, 1849 calories per cup and 117 calories per tablespoon. Consuming more of these oils will make you gain more weight. Other fat & oils with high calories includes;

Palm oil, Olive oil, almond oil, walnut oil, cocoa butter, avocado oil, coconut oil, butter etc.



2. Nuts and Seeds:

The following are nuts and seeds with their different calorie levels; Dry Coconut (185), cashew nuts and pumpkin seeds (161), pine nuts (188), almonds (162), watermelon seeds (156), peanuts and sunflower seeds (164), walnut (183) etc.


3. Nut and seeds butter:

Peanut butter has 590 calories per 100g and 94 calories per table spoon. Other nut butter includes; Almond butter (99), cashew butter (94) and Tahini (89).


4. Chocolates:

Chocolates that contains about 70 to 85% cocoa has 589 calories per 100g and 604 calories per bar and 167 per ounce. Other chocolates high in calories per ounce are; cocoa (162) and dark chocolate (153).


5. Dried fruits:

Dried fruits high in calories includes; Dried Cherries (266), Dried Blueberries (254), Dried Pears (236), Raisins (217), Dates (208), Dried Apricots (191), Dried Peaches (189), Figs (186), Dried Cranberries (185), Dried Apples (104).

6. Avocados: 
Avocados contains 160 calories per 100g and 332 calories per avocado. A typical half avocado contains 7g of fibre and 2g of saturated fat.
